  • Innovative Module Design: Develop novel, lightweight silicon PV module architectures that move away from traditional glass-based encapsulation.
  • Cost Reduction Strategies: Implement strategies to significantly reduce the balance of system (BoS) costs through the new module designs.
  • Performance Optimization: Enhance the power conversion efficiency of the lightweight modules while ensuring suitable solar cell technologies, mechanical properties, while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
  • Durability and Reliability: Ensure the new module designs meet rigorous durability and reliability standards under various mechanical and environmental conditions.

Funding

This project receives $150k ACAP funding with a total project volume of $365k.

CI Dr Marco Ernst leads the optical characterisation and modelling, and outdoor testing activities of project-developed lightweight modules.
